Go Green
Our
new facility will employ 40 years of progress in areas like passive solar
heating, water management and energy-efficient design to ensure that we
provide the community with an environmentally sound and responsible shelter.

In our new shelter we will have many beneficial environmentally conscious features, such as;
- Site Development:
minimize storm water run-off, encourage non-motorized methods of travel
to and from site, increase urban density and green space.
- Water Efficiency:
reduce water consumption, minimize or treat wastewater.
- Energy Efficiency:
use renewable energy, such as passive solar heating.
- Material Selection:
minimize construction waste, use renewable construction materials and
design and build more durable buildings.
- Indoor Environmental
Quality: incorporate day lighting, provide operable windows
and occupant control of work space, improve delivery of ventilated
air.
- Innovation in
Design: incorporate innovative
environmental features not covered in other areas.
Accessibility
The new shelter
will be easily accessible to every member of our community, including
those with mobility impairment.
