We've Gone Green!
Our
new facility employs 40 years of progress in areas like passive solar
heating, water management and energy-efficient design to ensure that we
provide the community with an environmentally sound and responsible shelter.

In our new shelter we have many beneficial environmentally conscious features, such as;
- Site Development:
minimizes storm water run-off, encourages non-motorized methods of travel
to and from site, increases urban density and green space.
- Water Efficiency:
reduces water consumption, minimizes or treats wastewater.
- Energy Efficiency:
uses renewable energy, such as passive solar heating.
- Material Selection:
minimizes construction waste, uses renewable construction materials and
design and builds more durable buildings.
- Indoor Environmental
Quality: incorporates day lighting, provides operable windows
and occupant control of work space, improves delivery of ventilated
air.
- Innovation in
Design: incorporates innovative
environmental features not covered in other areas.
Accessibility
The new shelter
is easily accessible to every member of our community, including
those with mobility impairment.
