Community Partnership Helps to Build New Building |
Marquardt's owner, Siegfried Schleigh, believes in developing and maintaining long-lasting partnerships within the community. For over a decade, Siegfried has hand-delivered his printing proofs to the Ottawa Humane Society and has seen first hand how we desperately need a new home for the animals.
Last September, Siegfried had the opportunity to take a tour of our current shelter and witnessed our overcrowded building, cramped dog kennels and cat cages. Siegfried knew that he and his company wanted to help make our new home a reality. Marquardt Printing is helping build a brighter future for Ottawa's animals by pledging $20,000 toward the building of our new facility.
Marquardt Printing not only cares about the animals but also cares about our environment. Moreover, Marquardt's environmental concern is also shown by what the company has decided to name at our new building. Marquardt's name will appear on our plaza garden; a small outdoor garden flanking the entrance to our new clinic. As well, our new staff bike racks will also be named by Marquardt, encouraging green transportation.

Our new home under construction |
We wanted to share with you recent photographs of the current construction of our new home. Its interior spaces are now clearly structured, with insulation, strapping and other interior work underway. Roof and window installation have almost been completed. It is becoming easier to imagine what our new building will look like once finished. Give your gift to help build a brighter future today.

An Affordable Way to Help Build Our New Home |
This new building has been made possible due to the support of our community; often by individuals who stretch to give their gift to tomorrow's animals. We wanted to share why two of our supporters committed to being on our donor wall, and why they decided to give to the Breaking Ground Building Campaign.

Lal remembered by pledge to campaign |
A few years ago, Elizabeth Wheeler and her husband visited the Ottawa Humane Society looking to adopt a dog. The instant she saw Lal (meaning beloved in Hindi), among the crowded kennels, she knew she had found her pet. It was then that Elizabeth decided to give regularly to the OHS. Elizabeth understands that the generous donations of others allowed her pet to receive much needed medical care and attention. Even though her dog is no longer with her, Elizabeth continues to 'pay-it-forward' by contributing toward our new home. She finds her pledge an easy commitment because she gives on a monthly basis.
Mary K. Snelling had never given directly to the OHS before but had long been a supporter of our work. After attending an information session she knew she just had to help. Mary has had several pets share her life, (cats and dogs), and she wanted to remember them through a gift to the new building. She is very much looking forward to visiting our new home and seeing what she has helped build through her generous donation.
