December Community Kudos
Thank you to the individuals, companies, groups and associations who have organized a community event or activity to raise money for Ottawa’s animals.
Whether big or small, private or public, the effort and passion that you put into each and every event is appreciated and has a positive impact on the lives of the animals we care for.
December 2015 Cool Kids & Community Kudos
The animals at the have a very special message to send to Dylan M. – a huge THANK YOU! for his incredible efforts fundraising on their behalf. This amazing young man raised $100 for the animals in the care of the OHS – animals just like Smooch the cat who Dylan visited with when he came to drop off his donation. Way to go Dylan!
Did you place a bid on an item in our online Holiday Auction? Chances are you might have bid on an item that was generously donated by Nancy Scott (who is also a PAW monthly donor.) This amazing woman drove over an hour to drop off a variety of new gifts she never used – all to be auctioned off in support of Ottawa’s animals. All together the items she donated raised just under $900 – WOW. Thank you very much Nancy!
The Barking Teacup
Jenny Graham and her pint-sized fundraising pooch Ms. Moneypenny, a four pound Chihuahua, are the owners of The Barking Teacup – an online boutique that specialize in accessories for smaller breeds. These two amazing ladies, one human and one furry, exhibited at Ottawa Pet Expo and donated 10 per cent of their sales to the animals at the OHS. They just go to prove no matter how big or small, you can always make a HUGE difference in the lives of Ottawa’s animals. Thank you Jenny and Penny!
How do you celebrate turning another year older? Camryn M. chose to celebrate by collecting donations for the animals in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society in lieu of asking for gifts for herself on her ninth birthday. We think this is one PAW-some way to celebrate your special day, Camryn! ! On behalf of all the animals at the shelter we say “Thank You!” and “Happy Birthday!”
Mountshannon School Age Program
What’s the prettiest picture you can paint? The one that helps save Ottawa’s animals! The amazing staff and children at Mountshannon School Age Program raised funds for the animals in the care of the OHS by holding an art raffle and selling canvas paintings the children painted. What a beautiful way to show your true colours, Mountshannon SAP!
Karine Langley & Morneau Shepell
Karine Langley organized for her work’s Holiday Party to raise funds for a good cause – the OHS! The amazing coworkers at Morneau Shepell are no strangers to raising funds for Ottawa’s animals – this is their second fundraiser for the OHS in the past three months! If you think what they did is great you should talk to your employer about bringing fundraising into your workplace, often employers will even match what you raise – doubling your efforts for Ottawa’s animals who need you most! Thank you for being a wonderful example of workplace giving Karine and the staff at Morneau Shepell!
Elisa M. & Katie B.
It’s never too cold to enjoy a tall glass of lemonade OR to get a warm feeling inside from doing a good deed – and Elisa and Katie managed to combine the two by holding a lemonade stand and donating the proceeds directly to the OHS! These two amazing young ladies raised much needed funds by selling tall glasses of sunshine in the summer and turned their afternoon of fun into a lifetime of good for the animals in the care of the OHS!
