Thank you to the individuals, companies, groups and associations who have organized a community event or activity to raise money for Ottawa’s animals.
Whether big or small, private or public, the effort and passion that you put into each and every event is appreciated and has a positive impact on the lives of the animals we care for.
February Cool Kids & Community Kudos
Thomas B. knew exactly what he wanted for his birthday… to help Ottawa’s animals! This incredible young man turned 11 years old chose to ask for gifts to the animals in lieu of presents for himself. He raised a HUGE $130 for Ottawa’s animals! From all of the staff, volunteers and animals at the shelter we want to say “Thank you and happy birthday!” to Thomas B.
Ms. Caroline S. held her ninth birthday party at the OHS and the animals couldn’t have been happier to have her celebrate her special day at the OHS. This wonderful young lady asked for donations to the animals in lieu of birthday presents for herself! Way to go, Caroline! We want to say “Thank you and happy birthday!”
Most young adults would be dreaming of iPhones or new clothes for their birthday day but not Gabrielle N. who turned 22 last month. This amazing young lady told her loved ones that all she wanted for her special day was for her friends and family to make a donation to the animals in the care of the OHS. Wow – what a selfless way to celebrate your special day, Gabrielle. From all of us, we would like to say thank you and wish you a very special “Happy Birthday” for your generosity.
Winter is a very special young lady – she chose to donate to the animals in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society for her 8th birthday. This wonderful birthday girl donated a HUGE $85.00 to the animals in our care. We want to say “Thank you and happy birthday!” for such a generous donation!
South March Public School
The students at South March Public School sure know how to make a toonie go a long way! These incredible young students held a “Toonie Fundraiser” in support of the animals in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society. They raised a whopping $820.55 PLUS they donated close to $320 worth of in-kind donations like food, treats and toys for the animals. WOW. Thank you South March Public School!
Elizabeth S. celebrates her birthday in a big way – by donating a TON of items to the animals at the Ottawa Humane Society. This is the second year in a row that young Elizabeth has decided to make a difference in animal lives and we are very appreciative to have her on our team. She’s shown here with her donation of over $300 worth of amazing presents for the animals. From everyone at the OHS we want to say “Thank You!” and wish you a BIG “Happy Birthday!” Elizabeth!
Heather B. paid a visit to the animals at the OHS, and when she came she didn’t come empty handed! This lovely lady brought animal toys, treats, a blanket and supplies so that we can continue to help care of Ottawa’s animals who need us most. Thank you Heather!
Jim Fitzgibbons knows just what to do on a cold winter day – knit for the animals! This wonderful man knitted lovely blankets for the Hide & Perch boxes that the cats use in the shelter. Now the kitties have a nice, hand-made, warm place to rest as they wait for their forever home!
Sherrilee V. knows that some animals are still waiting for their forever homes and to help make their time at the shelter even better than it already is, she brought them all sorts of pet foods, treats, toys and accessories! Wow – thank you Sherrilee!
Ella had her birthday last month and was given money to celebrate this special occasion.. and what did Ella do? She spent that money on buying toys, treats and food for the animals at the Ottawa Humane Society. What an incredible way to celebrate turning another year older Ella – from all of us at the OHS we want to say “Thank You!” and “Happy Birthday!”
Dawn celebrated her special day by making it special for Ottawa’s animals – she spent her birthday money on treats, toys and other needed items! These items will bring a lot of joy to the animals in the care of the OHS Dawn, so on behalf of all the animals and staff we want to say “Thank You!” and “Happy Birthday!”
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa West
Big thanks go out to the team at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa West, at 2055 Robertson Road who recently donated $78 to the animals in the care of the OHS. This money was raised from the sale of their “Pet Packages” and goes a long way to helping Ottawa’s animals find forever homes! Great job!

Big tail wags and kitten purrs go out to Jim, Greg, Christine, Karen Y, Karen E., Jessica, Gary, Chelsea, Allison, Manuela and Lauren who all participated in their office’s Denim Days fundraisers throughout 2015. This paw-some group of coworkers raised a huge $120 for Ottawa’s animals! Way to go everyone!
William B. had his birthday party at the OHS and donated a whole bunch of paw-some treats, toys, towels and more for both the cats and the dogs at the shelter. He also donated a HUGE $70 to help the OHS buy much needed supplies for future animals we see! From everyone at the OHS we want to say “Thank You!” and wish you a BIG “Happy Birthday!”
Miss Gabrielle N. spends her time helping Ottawa’s animals by hosting car washes (in the summer, we hope!) and by hosting a table with her friend at the Blackburn Hamlet Annual Garage Sale! This amazing young lady raised a whopping $40 by working hard for her favourite cause – Ottawa’s animals in need. Way to go Gabrielle!
