Thank you to the individuals, companies, groups and associations who have organized a community event or activity to raise money for Ottawa’s animals.
Whether big or small, private or public, the effort and passion that you put into each and every event is appreciated and has a positive impact on the lives of the animals we care for.
November Cool Kids & Community Kudos
Students of Rockcliffe Park Public School
To celebrate Halloween, the students of Rockcliffe Park Public School raffled off Halloween wooden characters. Being the amazing heroes that they are, they donated the money to help the animals at the OHS. Thank you students for being our Humane Heroes!
Ashley and Sienna
These two Sparks girls, Ashley and Sienna, came in today with their hands full of donation items for the animals! They had toys, supplies and blankets. Thank you girls for being such an amazing part in our community!
When Rhys had his 11th birthday, he asked all of his friends to bring cat supplies in lieu of gifts so he could help the cats at the Ottawa Humane Society. Thank you Rhys for being a Humane Hero, Happy birthday!
Benjamin had a fantastic idea for his sixth birthday. He had asked for money has gifts so he could donate half of it to the Ottawa Humane Society. On behalf of the animals, happy birthday Benjamin and thank you for thinking of us on your special day!
When Andrew read a special letter from the Ottawa Humane Society, he wanted to come and show us his support by donating his contribution in person. Of course, he also wanted to so hi to all of the furry little animals. You may visit us anytime Andrew, Humane Heroes are always welcome!
For her sixth birthday, Sidney wanted to do something extra special. So she asked for donations in lieu of gifts. She collected treats, food, toys and warm blankets from her friends and family. Thank you Sidney for being such a big part of helping the animals in our community, happy birthday!
Anika, Zanib and Josh
This amazing trio decided they wanted to help the animals and the best way to do that was to sell beautiful flowers and delicious lemonade. They did such an incredible job — they raised over $90! But wait, there’s more! While celebrating their success, friends and family wanted to contribute even more and the three amigos raised another $70! What wonderful spirit. Thank you Anika, Zanib and Josh for bringing such happiness to these animals.

These two brilliant girls came to visit the OHS with a surprise donation they made by tutoring. Sanya and Trisha, you are welcome to visit and tutor our animals anytime! Thank you for being so fabulous!
Riley S. wanted to make their birthday extra special … by donating to the animals at the Ottawa Humane Society! What a wonderful way to celebrate, Riley!
Lily wanted to turn five years old in an extra special way … by helping Ottawa’s animals! This amazing youngster asked for donations to the animals in lieu of presents for their special day! Great work, Lily!
For her 11th birthday Anika asked for gifts to the animals in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society in lieu of gifts for herself! We think that is truly generous, Anika. Happy Birthday!
Isobelle celebrated her eight birthday by making a very special request — for her guests to donate to the Ottawa Humane Society in lieu of presents for herself. What a wonderful way to celebrate, Isobelle!
Kayla knows how to party like an animal for her birthday … she asked for donations to help the animals in the care of the OHS in lieu of gifts! Thank you and happy birthday Kayla!
Little Evie O. didn’t let only being four-years-old stop her from being a champion to the animals. This wonderful young girl asked for donations in lieu of gifts to celebrate her special day. Happy birthday Evie!
Katelyn wanted to help the animals so she decided to hold a bake sale outside of her home in the month of August. This wonderful young lady baked and made crafts and sold them to passersby with some help from her friend Kaitlyn, all in support of the animals at the OHS! Way to go, Katelyn & Kaitlyn!
Anne L. wanted to help rescue animals so this lovely young lady made a sign indicating she was collecting donations in support of the Ottawa Humane Society and raised much needed funds to go towards OHS Rescue and Investigation Services officers. Way to go, Anne!
Celebrating a birthday is important at any age and sometimes adults like to ask for presents too! Like Don Wheeler, who decided to ask for his party guests to donate to the Ottawa Humane Society in lieu of gifts. Thanks Don!
Kayleigh & Ryan R.
Kayleigh and Ryan wanted to show some sibling solidarity and mutual love for Ottawa’s animals so these two amazing youngsters held a bake sale in support of the Ottawa Humane Society. They sifted, stirred and sprinkled their way to helping Ottawa’s animals! Thanks Kayleigh and Ryan!
Local Public Eatery
Local businesses are so important to our community and when they show their support for community charities everyone wins! LOCAL Public Eatery at Lansdowne decided to host a “doggy wash” fundraiser — giving dog baths in exchange for donations. The event was a HUGE success raising over $700. Way to go, LOCAL!
Matteo decided that for his ninth birthday, instead of gifts, he would collect money to help animals in need. He chose to donate this money to the Ottawa Humane Society. Wow — what a special way to celebrate your birthday, Matteo! Thank you! Happy birthday from everyone at the OHS!
Owen wanted to help animals so this wonderful young man decided to hold a lemonade stand to raise funds in support of the OHS. What a great way to give back, Owen! Thank you for your fundraising efforts.
Taylor M. knows the sweetest way to help the animals in the care of the OHS is by holding a bake sale! This master baker sold his treats at school and at home and raised much needed funds to help animals in need! Thanks Taylor!
Rileigh decided to show her support for Ottawa’s animals by bringing a ton of donations for the animals in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society. What a great way to show you care, Rileigh!
Sophie wanted to help Ottawa’s animals in the sweetest way she could think of — by holding a lemonade stand at her mother’s chiropractic office, Arc of Life. This amazing young lady served up a tall glass of giving and donated the funds raised to support the Ottawa Humane Society!
Jane Kelly and the team at City of Ottawa Social Services
For the second year in a row the amazing team at the City of Ottawa Social Services department, led by Jane Kelly, hosted their annual “Amazing Race” fundraiser. This incredible team of colleagues raised a whopping $630 in support of the animals at the OHS. Way to go Social Services!
How do two siblings have fun AND help Ottawa’s animals? If you ask Maykala and Ethan G. they would tell you by making rainbow loom bracelets, necklaces and keychains and selling them around their neighborhood to raise funds in support of the animals at the OHS. What a crafty way to help Ottawa’s animals!

What’s the best way to serve up a tall glass of support for Ottawa’s animals? Hold a lemonade stand and raise funds in support of Ottawa’s animals! That’s what siblings Lilly and Alexis W. did, selling lemonade, bottles of water and muffins to their neighbors all in support of the OHS. How sweet!
Kyra L. wanted to celebrate her birthday in the most purr-fect way she could think of … by asking for donations in support of the kitties at the Ottawa Humane Society in lieu of birthday presents for herself. What a generous way to celebrate your special day, Kyra! Happy birthday from everyone at the OHS!

Daphne C. wanted to help the animals at the shelter so she chose to give a donation in the form of toys, treats, litter and bedding. She even decorated the box she delivered them in — how creative! What a great way to show you care, Daphne.
Tanner has made a lifelong commitment to the animals … and he’s only one-year-old! This wonderful youngster and his generous parents have decided that Tanner will ask for donations in (partial) lieu of gifts for the rest of his birthdays. What a purr-fect way to celebrate!
Madison knows art has no rules and giving has no limits because this wonderful young artist held her second annual art show and donated all the proceeds to the animals at the Ottawa Humane Society. This young lady turns her works of art into a masterpiece of giving back! Thank you Madison!
