We care for thousands of animals at the Ottawa Humane Society each year, and each one has a unique story.
Whether they were abandoned, surrendered or rescued – how they came to us doesn’t matter. What matters is the support you have provided to help us give them a second chance.
Thanks to you, we were able to find new, forever homes for thousands of animals in 2011. These happy endings motivate and inspire us to continue on in our sometimes difficult work. We want to share with you a few of last year's most memorable adoption stories — and thank you again for everything you've done to help these animals and others in our community.

Thank you! |
On behalf of all of us at the Ottawa Humane Society, thank you for your support in 2011 and always. Without it, none of these stories would have been possible.

Leave a legacy, purchase a piece of the new shelter! |
The new state-of-the-art shelter is up and running, and adoption numbers have increased significantly in the six months we have been here. The animals are happier and healthier, which allows us to find more of them forever homes!
You can still be a part of our new facility and name a special area of it!
Leave a legacy with your name or a tribute to a loved one lost, and help us fulfill our mission to help Ottawa's animals.
Purchase one of the lights that illuminate our dog walking trail, or a bank of kennels that house lost or injured animals. Name a bench in the Adoption Centre or a tree on the grounds of our new shelter.
For more information, or to see other options, please visit our naming opportunities page. Donors who select a naming opportunity will also be honoured on our permanent donor wall displayed prominently in the public Adoption Centre lobby area.

Mrs. Marcy J. Baker, a long-time supporter of the Ottawa Humane Society, sits on the bench that bears her name in the Adoption Centre.
