Last Year'sSummer Harvet Garden P
arty organized by friends of Kurt Waldele raised over $39,000 for the animals at the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS).
For nearly a decade, Waldele, the former Executive Chef of the National Arts Centre, organized summer garden parties benefitting the OHS at his home with his wife Dr. Suzanne Beauchemin, and volunteered his time and talent preparing menus for the OHS FurBall galas. Over the years he helped raised close to $750,000 for Ottawa’s animals.
“I can’t think of a better way to honour Kurt’s memory than to combine his passion for food and animals in an event that helps the animals in our care,” says Bruce Roney, Executive Director, Ottawa Humane Society. “We’re happy to host the party at our new facility and we’re very pleased with the success of the event. Kurt would be very proud.”
The state-of-the-art Ottawa Humane Society animal shelter is the perfect backdrop for guests to witness first-hand how funds raised for the OHS are used.
