Volunteer of the Month

RaymondRaymond Duquette has been volunteering at the OHS for the past three years, walking here every week to help the animals he loves so much.

Raymond has been an integral part of the l'Arche Ottawa community which assists people with developmental disabilities to participate in family-like settings and be involved in their local community.

Every Thursday, he comes to the OHS and makes hide and perch boxes for the cat cages. His big smile and his infectious laugh fill the Adoption lobby every week. We are very grateful to have him as a volunteer and proud to give him the opportunity to help out at the Ottawa Humane Society where he can share his love for animals and be surrounded by his furry friends.

Buddy and Belle

Billy Bob
Billy Bob was found by Ottawa Humane Society EAPS agents and brought to the shelter because a cement pallet had fallen on him. He had many wounds on his legs, including a large area where skin was completely torn off. X-rays showed his left front paw and left hind leg were fractured. To lessen Billy Bob's pain, a device was placed on his hind leg to help the fracture heal. This worked! Sadly, due to complications, his front leg did not heal properly and had to be amputated. After nearly two months of medical care, including treatment for an upper respiratory infection, Billy Bob is finally ready to look for his forever home.

Please help Billy Bob, and other animals like him in need of emergency animal treatment, by making a donation.

Do you Know How to Sew?

We are looking for volunteers who have sewing skills to help sew covers for warming blankets in the clinic. Fabric is provided. Please contact the Volunteer office for more information.
