Happy New Year! I am happy to introduce myself as the new Manager of Volunteers. As many of you are aware, Christine Wheeler left the OHS before the holiday season to pursue a new and exciting opportunity. Her dedication to the Volunteer Department throughout the past seven years was invaluable, and I am excited to take the reigns and build on successful relationships.
Some of you may recognize me from my eight years of part-time service as a Customer Service Representative at the OHS. In addition, I have volunteered at many annual OHS events and I have fostered numerous cats — a volunteer position that I continue to enjoy and fulfill. Now, as a recent graduate of the Master of Social Work program, I am pleased to commit myself full-time to the strong and enthusiastic volunteer community at the OHS. Your commitment to the goals of the organization and the animals in our care is inspiring. I am proud to be part of the department that represents a group of people who generously offer their time to increase the well-being of animals in the Ottawa community.
I expect the upcoming year will provide us with new and exciting opportunities. I hope to offer volunteers a venue to discuss and improve the volunteer experience at the OHS, while ensuring that our volunteer programming is strong with continued opportunities for training. I welcome your thoughts and comments about the Volunteer Department. I am in the office Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please do not hesitate to visit me at the office, contact me by telephone at 613-725-3166 ext. 231, or via e-mail at erinr@ottawahumane.ca. I look forward to meeting and working with you. Let’s make 2010 a great year for the volunteers and animals! |
