   Computer log-in logistics

Gerald signs inOur new volunteer computer log-in system has been up and running for several months now and so far the process seems to be running smoothly. The main benefit of the system is that it allows us to more accurately track volunteer hours, and that helps us in a multitude of ways.

For example, better statistics help us provide background for funding applications and assist us in securing grant money for special projects. The tracking system also helps us identify areas where we need volunteer support, and allows us to follow our roster of helpers to determine availability.

So please continue to log in and out of the computer, and remember that with just a few clicks of the keyboard, you’ll be helping the animals in more ways than you’ll know!

   Kudos for Katimavik!

JosephWe're pleased to welcome Joseph, our resident Katimavik ambassador. Originally from the Toronto area, Joseph is part of the Katimavik program, a national youth volunteer-service program where young people spend time in three different regions of Canada to help in various community projects.

Joseph is lending a hand in the development and volunteer departments, as well as assisting with various premises and shelter duties. We’re so pleased to have you on board, Joseph!

   BLAV helpers needed

BLAVOur season of Brightening Lives is off to a tremendous start, but we’re looking for volunteers who can take animals on visits to local hospitals, retirement homes and rehabilitation centres so residents can benefit from animal contact. If you’re interested, please let us know.

Trooper helps us raise a little $

TrooperThank you to all of our rock and roll volunteers who ventured out with buckets in hand at the CUPE union appreciation concert on Nov. 1. In addition to a fabulous evening of classic tunes and side-splitting comedy, the event helped us raise XXX dollars for our building campaign. The animals thank you!

Santa and DogHalloween’s just behind us, but it’s already time to start thinking about Santa! Bring your favourite furry friend to pose with Saint Nick at various locations on weekends from late November to early December. Proceeds from the photos go to help the animals! Find out more here.
