Feedback from previous campers!

“My son loves the program and doesn’t want to go anywhere else.”

“I had two daughters in the program (6 and 8 years old). They both loved the programming and the counsellors.”

“My son has had behaviour issues, and anxiety through all camps he has ever attended. Never has he ever been excited about a camp and asking when he can return, until this one. THANK YOU!!!”

“My girls were so excited about their time with the animals, and so excited to share what they did and learned with us.”

“Thank you for offering these camps, my daughter loved it!”

“I couldn’t be more excited about this camp. It isn’t near our house, and resulted in an extra hour of driving in the morning for us, and an hour in the evening. However, we will do it again in a heartbeat. This is the first camp our 6 year old has enjoyed. He craves adult attention, his anxieties are soothed by animals, and loves learning. This camp did all of the above. Thank you.”

  • Jan. 26, 2018 — All About Animals
Most of our campers who love animals and attend OHS camps, only get to learn about domestic pets! On this special PD day, we will learn more about wild and exotic animals and the role they play in our society. It’s important to learn about all of the animals that share this big world! Some important topics we’ll discuss are farm animals, circus animals and urban wildlife! In addition to learning all about these special animals, a PD Day at the OHS wouldn’t be complete without visits with our in-house furry friends. Don’t miss out on all the learning and fun!
  • Feb. 16, 2018 — Pet Ownership 101
Which animals make good pets? Is your family really ready for a pet?  What kind of care does a pet need? Campers who attend this special Pet Ownership 101 camp will learn all about being the best pet owners they can be! This camp is appropriate for families with pets, families thinking of getting a new pet – or families who aren’t ready for a pet just yet. Counsellors will explore how much time, money, space and care is required to care responsibly for cats, dogs, small animals and reptiles! Campers can look forward to visits with OHS animals and a few NEW themed crafts/games.

Holiday Break Camp

Exploring Careers with Animals

Does your child talk about working with or helping animals when they grow up? Most children think that the best way to work with animals is to become a vet – however, there are so many career options in the animal care field! Sign-up for this special four-day week of camp where campers will explore the wide array of jobs and careers where humans work side by side with animals. The week includes meeting special guests in both animal welfare and other professions, even seeing first-hand what some of our own shelter professionals do day to day! Campers can look forward to fun activities, games, creative crafts and interacting with a variety of OHS animals throughout the week.

January 2-5 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.): $265

Optional extended care hours (7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) are available for an additional fee of $25.

We are running our “Off-Leash” Camp Jan. 2-5, 2018.  The camp will feature a secret theme that will be announced early December.
