Ruggles — The Cuddly Companion
Hi, I'm Ruggles!
From Ruggles' foster volunteer: "Ruggles is a sweet little boy. He listens very well, he obeys to sit, wait, leave it, and we are still working on giving the paw. He will bark to announce someone is at the door and at times when walking, when he sees other dogs or people. Ruggles loves to walk, cuddle and he will always follow you from room to room. He does sleep in his own bed but at night he cuddles with us. He does snore and he likes to sleep under the blankets. Ruggles is not a fetch the ball dog, he does play with plush toys, but he mostly lounges around and relaxes. He is a loyal dog."
The staff at the OHS call me a Socialite. Did you know that a Socialite's absolute favourite thing is hanging out with their people? They love being at the centre of attention and are excited to meet almost anyone. Socialites enjoy activities like joining in on family outings and going for leisurely walks, playing games like tug and fetch, and participating in training games! And while they might enjoy the occasional run or hike, they are usually content to stick around the neighbourhood. Most Socialites enjoy finishing off a day by settling down with a chew toy or puzzle feeder while you relax for the evening. So, if you like the company of a dog that will adore you and want to be involved in all of your activities, you'll have lots of fun with a Socialite!
Special Considerations:
- I have hip dysplasia and degenerative joint disease that will need to be monitored by a vet.
- I had surgery performed on my hip at the OHS. I am now ready to find my new home and will benefit from ongoing veterinary supervised physiotherapy to continue to strengthen my leg.
- I have some dental tartar on my teeth, and some associated gum inflammation. I will likely require a thorough oral health assessment and dental cleaning under general anesthesia within the next year.
- I have some teeth that are worn. This is likely due to me chewing objects that are too hard. I will require regular veterinary check-ups to monitor my teeth. In the future, I may need dental care for this condition under general anesthesia, possibly including dental extractions or other procedures.
- New places and unfamiliar faces can scare me. I will need a gentle, patient home that will help me come out of my shell at my own pace.
I am a "Foster-Me-First" adoption. You can find more information about the Foster-Me-First Program on our website or call to speak to the adoption team.
I am currently relaxing in a foster home as I wait for my forever family. Please contact an adoptions staff to book an appointment to meet me!
My ID number is A268992 when you fill out my adoption application <3
