A Bag of Kibble Keeps a Family Together
Through our Emergency Pet Food Bank, we help pets stay with their people who might be navigating a number of challenges; from illness, job loss, rising costs and more. From July to September alone, we distributed 3,170 lbs of pet food to families in need.
Now, we urgently need your help to refill our shelves.
Our Pet Food Drive is on now through Sunday, Dec. 14. Our goal is to fill up an entire adoption pod to prepare for the winter ahead and the families who need our help. You can drop off unopened bags and cans of pet food at locations across the city:
- Ottawa Humane Society: 245 West Hunt Club Road
- Prancing Paws: 1090 Moselle Crescent
- Mon–Fri: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sat–Sun: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Ren’s Pets Kanata: 155 Roland Michener Drive
Every donation helps keep pets with the families who love them, and prevents the heartbreak of surrender because of temporary hardship.
Your donation will help families like Greg and his dog Romeo who needed support at the OHS Emergency Pet Food Bank. Greg shared:
“This year has been quite challenging with two surgeries and the possibility of a third, which has made it difficult for me to work
The pet food bank has been a lifeline for us. Every month, I am able to pick up a supply of food for Romeo, which has been a tremendous help, especially given my current situation. I can’t overstate how much this has eased the burden during this tough time.”
Together, we can make sure no pet goes hungry, and no family has to face the heartbreak of giving up a beloved pet. Thank you for being part of a compassionate community that steps up for animals and the people who love them.
