Ottawa Humane Society to Participate in PetSmart Adoption Event in Response to a Recent Population Surge
August 15, 2019 — The Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) has confirmed it will be attending an upcoming adoption event hosted by one of its Pet Adoption Location (PAL) partners on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019.
The event aims to place a high number of homeless pets in forever homes and falls on International Homeless Animals Day.
The OHS recently issued a warning that the shelter was approaching capacity and needed community support – either through adopting, fostering or donating – to manage the surge.
“We’re extremely grateful that PetSmart—Merivale has stepped up to help Ottawa’s animals after our recent crisis-level population surge,” said Zenon Stecewicz, OHS manager: admissions & rehoming. “While the population is still high, this event will help us return to a more manageable position.”
Potential adopters can visit PetSmart—Merivale at 1585 Merivale Rd. Unit 3, Nepean, Ont. on Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to meet some of the many animals looking for their forever families.
