Ottawa’s Becoming Even More Dog-Friendly
I feel a special kind of joy when I see a dog with their person out in the community. Whether out on a leash, spotted through a car window or a surprise run in at a business that welcomes pets, I love seeing the strong bonds of people and their pets out in the community — and it’s especially thrilling when the pet is an OHS alumni.
To make sure even more people can experience the happiness of meeting a friendly pup, we’ve kicked off a new photo competition, challenging dog owners to bring their pet to a Dog-Friendly Business and share a photo of their outing. A couple of lucky dog-socialites will win prize packs generously donated by some of our Dog-Friendly Businesses.
For people who love dogs, we know how important it is to have them with you almost everywhere you go. The trouble is that dogs are not allowed everywhere — often for good reason — which leaves dog owners no choice but to leave their pet at home.
But when a dog can come along, it’s a great opportunity to build the bond between the person and their pet, further develop the dog’s social skills, and maybe even encourage other people in the community to consider adopting a dog.
Our Dog-Friendly Business program is focused on making it easy as possible to plan an outing with a dog and help ensure that no one ever feels they have to chance leaving their dog alone in a car. It’s one of our ways of helping Ottawa become even more pet-friendly.
The Dog Days of Summer competition ends on Aug. 31. Learn more about how to enter the competition and have a chance at winning some great prizes.
If you want to become an OHS Dog-Friendly Business or know a local entrepreneur who loves pets, find out how to join the pack and welcome even more furry customers and their people to your business.
