Rabbits Need Homes – Ottawa Humane Society
July 21, 2025 — The Ottawa Humane Society is bursting with bunnies as more than 30 rabbits are available for adoption. In an effort to find more homes for these hoppy friends, the OHS has declared July 20 to 26 “Rabbit Week” and is offering special promotions to new rabbit adopters during the event, like a 20% discount on the adoption fee and a Rabbit Week goody bag to take home with their new best friend.
“For the past three years, we’ve been up to our ears in bunnies,” said Craig Dwyer, OHS manager: admissions & rehoming. “This event is a great way to get people excited about rabbits and secure more second chances.”
Rabbit Week has become an annual event at the OHS. Last year, 33 rabbits were adopted during the promotion.
The OHS says that rabbits are excellent pets. They are smart, social and are comfortable in homes of all sizes. They can roam your home freely and can learn how to use a litter box. All rabbits adopted from the OHS are also spayed or neutered, an important step the organization takes to prevent surprise litters and rabbit overpopulation in the community.
Anyone interested in adding a beautiful bunny — or two as the OHS recommends (rabbits love to have a friend) — can find their new bunny best friend on the OHS website.
