Special Message from the Ottawa Humane Society: “Thanks for Wiggling and Waggling!”

Sept. 25, 2023 — Yesterday, the Ottawa Humane Society hosted its 35th annual Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run to support Ottawa’s homeless animals. Thousands of people and their pets came to Lansdowne Park to take part in the festival, run a race, and show off their love of pets.

“We were thrilled to see so much support from the community at the Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run,” said Lori Marcantonio, OHS Director: Development. “It’s our biggest fundraising event for the animals and helps the OHS care for thousands of animals each year.”

Close to 1,200 people with more than 600 dogs signed up for the races and fundraised in support of Ottawa’s animals. In total, the event raised more than $190,000 for the OHS.

Emma Irvine was the top under 12 fundraiser for the event, raising more than $2,500 and Addison Cornelius was the top 12 and up fundraiser, raising more than $2,000. Charlie Mortimer and Erin Savoie held the fastest times for the men’s and women’s 5K respectively. Mikael Sjardin and Olga Krylove endured and finished first in the 10K.

The OHS and Chance, the Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run spokesdog, want to say thank you to everyone who participated or came down to show their support on Sunday.

More information will be coming soon for next year’s Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run.
